Key stuff should be identified for easy access. And it can be if you use Evernote content shortcuts.
Make short work of shortcuts
You can create shortcuts for notes, tags, notebooks and saved searches. Plus you can access them all across devices and operating systems.
Yeah! The folks at Evernote must know that our work computer is never the same system as our personal computer. Is that like a digital Murphy’s Law?
You can find the nuts and bolts of the necessary workflow by device here.
Highlight your goals
I love my quarterly off-site reviews. They help me step back and process where I have been and where I am going. One of the chief outcomes is an Evernote note with my next quarter’s goals.
I make that note a click-away by creating a content shortcut. Now every time I am using Evernote, that quick link makes it easy for me to refresh my focus. Not that I always do, but that’s my fault.
There are all sorts of notes that you might want ready access to. Michael Hyatt, comments that he uses shortcuts for his current travel itinerary, medical records, and writing style guide.
Put a current project front and centre
I labeled all the research for this blog post with the same writing project tag (i.e., \2017.07.EN.ShCuts). I then identified that tag as a content shortcut. The benefit is that I can access the notes associated with this project immediately from the shortcut menu bar. I love it!
For the current sermon that I am working on, I do the same kind of thing. I uniquely tag all the illustrations and other research and then I add that tag to the shortcut menu bar.
Shortcuts are not restricted to notes or tags, notebooks likewise can be included.
We are planning a trip to Ireland. I have created an off-line notebook with pertinent details and included it on the shortcut menu bar. So when we get lost, which I understand will coincide with rain, I am prepared to ‘recalibrate’ with this fumble-free shortcut.
Make your key stuff a click away
Creating content shortcuts in Evernote is not labour intensive. Give it a try! You will love the easy access to the stuff that is most important to you now.
